How to choose a satisfying career

Recession Proof Your Career

Please do not waste your time, your energy, and your money consulting a professional career decision maker to choose the best career for you, the fact is that you know yourself better than he does, even telling him your true life story or your work experience doesn't mean he would make a perfect decision for you. Although there is a good chance that he might end up making a good decision for you about which career he thinks is best for someone like you, but the fact is that if something would go wrong in the future you would blame him for everything and indirectly blame yourself as well.

Before an undergraduate student can start thinking about which career he thinks is best for him, perhaps; he must have finished his first year of study, probably in the 3rd or 4th semester depending on the duration of the course. I will write little about how to choose the perfect study course just to remind you of where you started from.

How to choose the perfect study course

Perhaps; most student don't really know what they are about to get themselves into by choosing a wrong study course, but as time goes on they would finally realize that they had made a great decision or they had made a terrible mistake that might cost them one or two lovely years of their lives. Well we all make mistakes, and choosing a wrong study doesn't mean its the dead end of the road, we can always start all over or try to make corrections. If you happen to be among those student that had chosen a wrong study then I think you have only two choices left,

  • QUIT and start all over.

  • Make something out of nothing.

My first year of study was nothing more than terrible or let me put it in a simple word " discouraging ". I never thought of spending most of my time learning mathematics and the rest analytical subjects, mathematics used to be one of the subjects I hate most due to my laziness but since I got a thing for Computer science I gave up my laziness. You know its better later than never.

  • Your educational background: Since you were able to passed the final high school examinations and/or the College entrance examinations You have just passed one of your toughest future career exams. I believe your educational background now plays a narrow part of your future. If I could remember correctly my educational background wasn't that strong, talking about mathematics, physics or the rest high school science subjects, I was weak at them all but I was able to study smarter and finally passed the high school final examinations, I gained an admission into Polsl and here I am. Do not worry about your educational background, just please focus on your future and your passion. Focus on who you want to be in the future and the challenges you must face. Let us take a Computer science course which offers a vast varieties of careers to anybody who is able to own atleast its B.sc certificate as an example, we all know to be a Computer science graduate you would have to go through tough science subjects starting with a thorough understanding of mathematics and physics then all the way up to electronics and computer programming. The first year of most courses are always tough because they are full of introductory classes but don't get carried away by your lazy friends that always tell you they made a wrong choice to choose this study because they are being thought what they think they would never need in their future career. Don't get carried away by few test failures. Keep it in mind that nothing is really linear in life (nothing goes straight) like most graduates will tell you. If you would work smarter and harder, heaven would be your limit.

  • Your passion: This part is very important prior to anything else. Don't just seek an admission to a Science or Medical School because of the rich Doctor Joe living in your neighborhood or because of the great Engineer Tom that invented your microwave machine, choose it because its part of you, select it because you want others to follow you not you following others, because you see a possibility of you doing what nobody has ever done before with such a study. Passion is feeling very strongly about a subject , usually referring to feelings of intense desire and attraction, choosing a study should be as simple as telling a friend what you enjoy doing most with your time and what you would love to do in the future. Putting the demand and supply in the labor market into consideration and also thinking less about the present low income or salary of Doctor Tom should get you started. Think about what you think you can do if you were in the position of Doctor Tom that would increase your income at the same time increase the demand for your services. Good luck with your selection.

How to choose the perfect career

  • People will always get sick,

  • People will always Pay taxes,

  • People will always Use energy,

  • People will always eat,

  • People will always drink,

  • People will always move from one place to another,

  • People will always communicate,

  • People will always seek more knowledge,

  • People will never give up their looks,

  • And many more.

If you want to Bulletproof, recession-proof, or depression-proof your future career, consider choosing a career that fits in atleast four of the above areas. Since I am not writing about choosing a career after your graduation from a College or University then I wont write much about them. What I am writing about is how an undergraduate student can choose a perfect future career while still studying. I think students should start thinking about their future career right from their 2nd year of study in order to lay-off-proof their future Job. I assume my readers are undergraduate since my Blog is directly to undergraduate students. Put the following into consideration,

  • Your interest: Your state of curiosity or concern about your study should come first, there will surely be one particular subject that you enjoy most. You are always curious about how human races are benefiting from this subject and how much the researches and discoveries are growing day after day, How the subject is connected with the real world and many more. Well your future career detection device should start sending you positive signals that such a subject worth paying 60% attention on. Put more greese to your elbow. Lets consider Computer science which is indirectly divided into two subjects which are " Electronics, and Computer programming " as example, a final 65%-35% knowledge in both should get you started with your future career.

  • Your Knowledge: What you have learnt so far and what is left should also bother you. Most studies are tough and at the same time are time consuming but you should always put your future career at one corner of your mind. You should always remember that in order to Lay-off proof your future career you have to be able to use almost everything that you were thought, your undergraduate knowledge at its maximum peak. Run after your teachers and ask them as many questions as you could such as " How is this topic connected with the real life and how can human race benefit from it and many more". Always remember that the best people are never enough and never out of job, and if you think you cannot be the best then simply be the second best.

  • The Labor Market: Since your Teacher (elders, or those that were in your present position ) knows the labor market demand and supply more than you do, then the more you consult them from time to time pertaining your study and your future career the more your chances are to really Lay-off proof your future career. You might have to read from the Internet or business newspapers from time to time in order to have an idea of what the labor market is presently like and what it might be in the nearest future. This is your future career we are talking about, since demand varies with the job location, you might want to relocate to the location where you think your services are needed most and where the competitions are relatively low.

  • Your Connection: Your relationship with the people around you, with your friends from school and outside school, your family, and the friends of your friends are also part of your search for your future career in the sense that they have been to where you might have never been to and also they know the people you don't know. keeping a good relationship with people and talking with them from time to time about how you are progressing with your study makes a perfect sense. Make sure you keep contact with almost all of your classmates and if possible with your teachers as well because there are good chances that your classmate can lead you to your future working place. Good luck with your search.
